The vegan movement is growing in popularity every year- it’s a great way to improve our own wellbeing as well as the planet’s. New Year’s resolutions notoriously come and go, but if you’re planning to embrace Veganuary in 2025, you’ll find so many benefits that the habit may even stick. Whether it’s the start of your journey to a plant-based diet, or you’re simply curious, Veganuary is a trend that’s changing the food industry and keeping our precious planet healthy.

What is Veganuary?

Veganuary is a non-profit organisation that spotlights veganism and encourages people to try eating a plant-based diet for the month of January. In 2024 over 1.8 million people took part. The initiative has spread to over 228 countries since its inception in 2014, and has led to the launch of over 1,540 new vegan products internationally.

Have you been considering ditching meat, fish and dairy products and embracing veganism for a month? Or maybe you’re planning to take your resolution beyond a January fad. Whether it’s a lifestyle change or a trial run, giving Veganuary a go will help tackle animal cruelty, nurture Planet Earth and improve health across the world.

Progress not perfection

Whenever we ask our wonderful vegan customers for their top tip for anyone doing Veganuary, we hear the same encouraging message. Veganuary is about progress, not perfection. This simply means, it’s not an all or nothing thing. If you have an off day, which let’s be honest, can happen to any of us, it’s ok but don’t give up. Pick yourself back up and carry on.

We think you’ll enjoy reading this article about the impact of Veganuary on the environment. Remember, any step you take towards living in a more sustainable way is worth making!

Will a vegan diet impact me?

It's well known that there are countless benefits of a vegan lifestyle. However when beginning a plant-based diet for the first time, some individuals report unexpected drops in their energy levels. Eating the right combination of plant-based foods, including grains, legumes, nuts and seeds, and fruits and vegetables is key to ensuring your energy levels remain high. Although salads are healthy and important to include in a balanced vegan diet, they may not be enough on their own to keep you fuelled. Take time to explore vegan versions of recipes that may traditionally contain animal products - there are a growing number of delicious options available.

The right snacks between meals can also help combat energy levels dropping throughout the day - experiment with things like homemade energy balls or fruit and nut bars for a boost! With the right preparation and planning it's perfectly possible to enjoy a satisfying vegan diet while keeping your energy levels up.
