Is your vitamin D3 spray safe for nursing mothers and toddlers 2 years of age?Hi, yes it is and very beneficial to both Mum and Toddler, especially during Autumn and Winter months when the sun intensity isn't sufficient to generate any Vitamin D through daily sun exposure.
Where can I see the Kosher label for Vitashine D3 1000iu?Vitashine products are not currently Kosher certified. They are Kosher suitable, but at this stage we have not been audited to obtain Kosher certification for the products themselves. However, Vitashine Vitamin D3 as an ingredient is Kosher certified.
How long is the shelf life? I have multiple sources of vitamin D from multiple supplements in small quantities. I only want to have as much as I feel like I will need in a day so I don’t know how long it may take me to go through the one month supply. I estimating I may only use the bottle up in 2 to 3 months. It’s only me using it as well. Will it last in the bottle throughout that time?Hi, the shelf-life is 2 years. We manufacture regularly so it is unlikely you will receive a batch with less than 12 months' remaining shelf-life.
We are a vegan couple waiting a little vegan baby in 3 weeks. We know its recomended to give d3 to newborn from week 1-2. How mush of your spray would be equal to 10mg/day?
Grateful for an answer 🙏Hi, each individual pump of our VitD3 spray produced 5mcg (200iu), so to obtain 10mcg (400iu), the dose is 2 x spray pumps per day.
I have two questions about product vegan vitamin D3 spray.1)What happens to the product if I don’t store it in the fridge but at room temperature? Can it be harmful to health?2)Does the amount of vitamin D change during storage at room temperature?Hi, it is fine to store the VitD3 Spray at room temperature. We rigorously stability test at elevated temperatures to ensure the shelf-life is achieved even challenging conditions.
Hi. Looking at vitamin d spray for adult family member who has multiple allergies including sunflower oil, corn, olive oil, wheat, soya rapeseed and many other things. Please advise source of d-alpha tocopherol. She is ok with coconut oil. Thank youHi, the Vitamin E in our VitD3 spray is of sunflower oil origin.
where can I buy in Australia please? Thank youHi, Cruelty Free Store in Australia stocks our products. Alternatively you can purchase directly from the Vegetology website. We are shipping parcels out to Australian customers every week.
I was curious to know if the vitamin D3 in your supplement is sourced from China. Are there any ingredients in your products that are sourced from China?Hi, no we source everything from Europe (mainly UK local suppliers where possible).
What is the calorie content in the Vit D spray? The label says 1.351 per 5 sprays - a thousand+ cals doesn't sound right, but one point three calories also doesn't sound correct since the product is mostly oil, no?Hi, the calorie content of the VitD3 Spray is 1.351kcal per daily dose of 5 sprays (for 1000iu), or 0.27kcal per individual spray pump (for 200iu). It is in Medium Chain Triglyceride, but the quantity consumed is very low.
Do you not do any liquid Vitamin D3 instead of Spray or Tablet form?Hi, The VitD3 Spray is a Liquid form. We found this to be the best Liquid form in managing the dose safely and effectively.
Is it suitable for baby 6 weeks old?
Thank youHi, yes the spray is suitable for newborn babies. Please consider any other sources of Vitamin D3 from baby formula to ensure the dose is correct as per your local health authority guidelines. If you need any input on this, please feel free to contact us by Facebook or [email protected].
Hi. Is the D3 vegan in your vegan omega 3 capsules? What is it derived from? Thanks.Hi, yes we use Vitamin D3 from lichen.
Is it suitable for babies (4 months old)?Hi, yes it is. Unless you have been advised differently, we recommend a dose of 200iu (5mcg), which is a single spray pump of the VitD3 Spray
I’ve read that you must combine vitamin K2 with D3 to avoid calcium build-up in the arteries. Is there any truth in this?Hi, D3 works together with Calcium and K2 for absorption. There is normally sufficient Ca and K2 in the diet to support this absorption. However, it is a combination we very much support, and use it in our MultiVit and Bone Care formulas.
Bonjour quel podologie de spray D3. Pour une personne âgé de 70 ans ?
MerciBonjour, Pour les 70 ans, nous recommandons 1000iu par jour (5 pulvérisations)
Is the sublingual spray dosage lower than the 2500IU tablets because of it gets absorbed better and would therefore be similar in efficacy? Would it be best to combine both (say 3500IU)?Hi, the Spray is lower dose (200iu per individual spray, dosed to a recommended 5 x sprays per day for 1000iu) in order to offer flexibility for the whole family. The tablets absorb very well too, so for higher doses it is absolutely fine to just use the tablets. 2500iu is a very good (and high yet safe) daily intake.
What is the process in which you extract and purify the vitamin D3 and turn it into an ingestible tablet? Is it a similar process to how lanolin is extracted from wool, with washing, and UV exposure?Hi, we create an oily extract and either use this in the Oral Spray (which is an Oil) or spray dry the oil in order to use it in tablet forms. The Lanolin process is different whereby UV treatment to chemically-convert sterols takes place.
Is either the Vitashine tablets or the spray sugar and oil free? I am on a special diet and can not have any added fats or sugar.Hi, the Vitamin D3 Spray contain Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) as the carrier oil. The Vitamin D3 tablets don't have any added fat or sugar as such. The Vitamin D3 itself is however spray-dried and a tiny amount of Sucrose (and residual MCT from the Vitamin D3 initial oil form) are present but the levels are miniscule. The tablets should be absolutely fine for any diet.
For my two year old, am I right to give her two sprays? We live in the UK so I think it's different from the USA recommendations. Also I wondered about the Iodine in the pregnancy vitamin. Hi, for a 2 year old we recommend 1-2 sprays per day. This fits with UK / European recommendations. We use a bladderwrack extract as the source of Iodine, which already has good inherent stability and bioavailability.
I am wondering if your Vit D3 spray is still effective without the K2 added (I note you mention many customers use additional supplementation with K2 in)? I am flexitarian and am looking for a D3 spray that does not contain artificial sweeteners or ascorbic acid like the Better U brand. I have a chronic sensitive bladder problem, so unable to tolerate most multivitamin tablet oral supplements. Thank youHi, yes Vitamin D3 is effective without added Vitamin K2. It is correct that the ideal combination is D3 + K2 + some calcium, however for everyday use there is typically sufficient Vitamin K and Calcium within the diet to allow effective absorption of Vitamin D3. We're confident you will be pleased with the Spray as an option.
It is 200iu per individual spray, dosed to 5 x sprays per day for the 1000iu level. At the 1000iu dose, a bottle lasts 1 month. We dosed this way to allow family flexibility so e.g. 1-2 x sprays per day for children, 3-5 for adults.
as vitamin D3 from lanolin requires a long process and the use of different detergent and solvent. I would like to know:
1) what is the process to extract the vitamin D3 from the lichen. Cold extraction? alcohol? water? solvent?
2) Does it need radiation like the provitamin D3 from lanolin?
and
3) How sustainable are your methods
Hi, we use water and alcohol during the extraction process. We don't require any harsh solvents and we are not performing UV conversion of pre-vitamin D.
Hi, Is the maltodextrin in your Vitamin D3 from corn ? I have a bad food sensitivity to corn Thank youHi, the Maltodextrin is from Maize. It is the isolated and high purity dextrin and we use it because we can form a simple chewable tablet without the need for many additional excipients.
Why does the vitamin D3 spray have D-alpha tocopherol (vitamin E)? and what is the ammount it contains as it does not say.Hi, we add a small amount of Vitamin E (0.1%) as an Antioxidant to protect the oil against oxidative damage. It isn't included at a level of nutritional benefit, it is solely for the stability of the formula.
Hi, is this safe for newborns?Hi, yes Vitashine Spray is suitable from newborn.
Which part of the body do you spray the product?Hi, it is an oral dose spray, so please spray directly into the mouth (or onto food). Please don't spray it onto the body itself.
I notice from a previous FAQ response that you recommend 1 spray equating to 5mcg for newborns. The department of health recommends a daily supplement of 8.5 to 10mcg of vitamin D for newborns and up to one year old. Is there any reason you do not therefore advise 2 sprays to fall more closely in line with their recommendations? Thanks.Hi, the recommendation do differ regionally around the world so we try and remain within guidelines across the board. With newborns we are also very conscious that most will be obtaining some Vitamin D from milk formula. Otherwise there is no reason, and for those seeking 10mcg solely from supplementation, 2 x sprays of Vitashine is ideal.
Of the many lichens which particular one is it please? Is it of the fruticose or foliose variety? (I assume it is not of the crustose category).
I wanted to know if it is a particular lichen (of many) that you use. Or do all lichen contain vitamin D3?Hi, we don't disclose the specific lichen source for confidentiality-reasons (we do of course to regulators). It is a species with established food use, and we only found a single strain propagates meaningful quantities of D3. The growing location, altitude, UV levels are all vital for yield.
Does the lichen strain used have any trace of toxic compound (eg. Vulinic acid) ?
Is lichen a fungus? Or an algae??Hi, no the lichen doesn't contain any toxic compounds. We extract the oil and test extensively for purity. Lichens are a symbiosis of an alga and a fungus, so basically both! They are incredible.
Do you think you might work on releasing a higher stength vit D spray at some point? Lots of research shows the vit D health guidelines are far too low and optimum levels can sit as high as 130 nmol/l. One study showed significantly increased benefits for those with 125 nmol/l but just 5 nmol/l lower at 120 nmol/l the benefits could not be seen. My current nmol/l sits at 53 (the doctors say this is good but I know from my own research it is quite low as their own references for vitamin D levels are far too low). To reach higher levels of over 100 nmol/l I would need to take about 15 sprays a day of your spray at the current strength it is at. Any chance a higher strength vit D may be in the making?Hi, we did previously sell higher strength 5000iu Vitamin D3 but unfortunately the uptake was so low we had to discontinue the product. Our market research tells us 1000-2500iu is the maximum viable strength at this time. We agree about the benefits of higher doses though!
How much Coconut oil is in it?
I just wondering the proportions approximately as I seem to have some very odd blood test results and am trying to work out what is causing it, be it food or anything else.Hi, we use Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) of Coconut Origin as the base oil within Vitashine Spray. This is the majority of the composition, so over 90%. We don't use Coconut Oil itself, only the MCT.
Hi, at what age should I increase the dose of d3 for my girls? I have a 5 year old and 2 year old, both have 1 spray currently a dayHi, up to the age of 3 we recommend 1 x spray (200iu) per day. We then recommend increasing to 2 x sprays (400iu) per day from age 3-8 .
Is Vitashine™ Vitamin D3 Spray suitable for people who can’t eat nuts?Hi, yes it is in terms of nut allergies. The one caveat is we use Medium Chain Triglyceride (MCT) of Coconut Oil origin as the carrier. Although it is solely the Triglyceride fraction, please be aware of this if you suffer from Tree Nut allergies.
It is popular among non-toxic group in Czech republic and we are asked to compair it with conventional vitamin D3 suplements. Why do you think Vitashine Is better than conventional vitamin D supplements? IT should contain the same molecule of D3 and should have the same clinical effect no? And you extract the D3 molecule directly from lichen? It does not need any further chemical modification?Hi, we have demonstrated that our Vitamin D3 is chemically-identical to D3 from animal sources. Therefore there is no reason for any change in clinical effects. We do extract the D3 directly from the oily portion of the lichen.
Does this contain magnesium k2 And boron to help as co- factorsHi, Vitashine products are Vitamin D3 only. This is in recognition that a lot of our customers are seeking Vitamin D3 to add to existing supplementation routines. We combine D3 with K2 and Magnesium within our Joint-Vie and VegVit formulas

Auditing is conducted by local and international authorities.
How much D-alpha tocopherol does a spray deliver? Thanks.Hi, D-Alpha Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E) is only added as an antioxidant to protect the formula from oxidation, so isn't included at a nutritionally-relevant level, and is mostly used up performing its sacrificial antioxidant role. It equates to an absolute maximum 0.28mg per individual spray pump.
Cholecalciferol is derived from lanolin in lambs wool, this is not vegan yet you label yourself as such? Our Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) is extracted from a lichen. You are correct that traditional sources of cholecalciferol are animal sources including lanolin and animal skin. Our source is 100% vegan.
Hi
How is the vegan D3 produced? Meaning where does it come from if not from lanolin? Thanks, DeniseOur exclusive vegan Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) comes from a special, organic plant source called a Lichen. The lichen is harvested from designated growing sites in regions of Asia and North America.
Is this safe for babies?
Can i give this from birth?Vitashine 1000iu Spray is perfect for a newborn baby. We’ve dosed each individual spray pump to be 200iu of Vitamin D3 (so to get the full daily dose of 1000iu, you spray 5 times). This is to make it flexible dose-wise to suit the whole family.
For newborns, we recommend seeking advice from your Doctor or Midwife. We would typically recommend a single spray (so 200iu Vitamin D3) for newborn babies. You may be advised a little higher, but please do be sure to check for vitamin content in any baby formula/milk if you use any.
Would I get too much Vitamin D3 if I take Omeag-3 and MultiVit together?A combination of Omega-3 and MultiVit is a really good supplement regime. While both contain D3, the collective level is very low (400iu) and actually many people are advised to take a higher dose. From a safety perspective it is well below any concern level, which would be upwards of 10,000iu per dose.
Is the d-alpha tocopherol in Vitashine D3 no longer from soy, but from the newer sunflower-derived source? We now use D-Alpha Tocopherol from sunflower now rather than soy.
What is the liquid in the Vitashine Spray? The liquid in Vitashine spray is fractionated coconut oil (also known as medium chain triglycerides). It's an inert and virtually tasteless carrier.
Can my children take Vitashine?Yes. It is widely recommended that children are given Vitamin D3 and we recommend using the Vitashine Spray, at a daily dose of 200IU per day (1 spray).
How long will a bottle of Vitashine last?Vitashine spray contains 150 sprays, which will last 30 days at a dose of 1000IU per day, or 150 days at a dose of 200IU.
What is the dose I should take?Vitashine spray is ideal for those seeking the RDA of Vitamin D3 (200IU). This is perfect for children. 5 sprays will provide 1000IU. Many vegetarians and vegans, and those diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency seek higher levels. We recommend consulting your Doctor for advice on dose.
How do I use Vitashine?Vitashine is supplied as an oral spray which can be administered directly into the mouth or sprayed onto food.
Can I take Vitashine during pregnancy?Yes, but always seek advice from your Health Practitioner before taking any supplements. Vitamin D helps you regulate calcium and phosphate levels in the body. A BBC report concluded "Pregnant women "must take Vitamin D supplements"".
Is Vitashine registered with the Vegan Society? There is justified skepticism about vegan source Vitamin D3 supplements and we are very proud that our products are registered with the Vegan Society and Vegetarian Society.
How should I store Vitashine?Vitashine should be stored in a cool dry place, out of the sight and reach of children. Refrigeration is recommended to maintain maximum freshness. Use within 3 months of opening.
Allergy advice with Vitashine?Vitashine is free from sugar, wheat, gluten and dairy products.
Is Vitamin D3 superior to Vitamin D2?The healthy debate continues on this topic. In our opinion, the published research suggests Vitamin D3 is superior. One particular peer-reviewed study concluded that Vitamin D3 is at least 87% more potent than Vitamin D2.
Can I add Vitashine to foods? The Vitashine spray is ideal for adding to food. The formula has no taste so can be added to foods of your choice. It is important not to expose Vitashine to high temperatures, so please don't add it during baking for instance. Please consume foods sprayed with Vitashine within 1 hour to ensure maximum freshness.
Can I take higher doses of Vitamin D3?We recognise many people seek higher doses of Vitamin D3 than the RDA of 200IU. That is why we offer flexibility and options of doses. Always consult your Doctor or Health Practitioner if you are considering taking a higher dose.
Where does Vitamin D3 usually come from?Meat and fish are the most common sources of Vitamin D3 in the diet. The reason conventional Vitamin D3 supplements are not suitable for Vegetarians and Vegans is because the D3 is extracted from sheep's wool (Lanolin) or other animal sources.
Do lichens have proven safety?Yes. In fact the lichen we use is classed as a food ingredient with a long history of safety.
