Why is Flax Seed insufficient as my vegetal omega‑3?

Seeds and seed oils such as Chia, Blackcurrant and Flax are sources of Omega-3, however are not sufficient. The issue is very simple, the form of Omega-3 in these sources is only of value to the body if converted, and this conversion is low.

The two key forms of Omega-3 of use to the body are Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Seeds and seed oils such as Flax contain Omega-3 in the form of Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA). Here is the math.. ALA needs to be converted by the body to EPA in order to be of value as an Omega-3, however at best that conversion rate is only 5%.

Our Omega-3 contains Omega-3 in the correct forms of EPA and DHA, making it immediately bioavailable for the body to utilise.

Why is Our Omega‑3 so good as a source of Omega‑3 for mum & baby?

Quite simply, our Omega-3 is perfect for mum and baby due to its purity. Unlike fish sources of omega-3, which can contain toxins and contaminants including mercury and heavy metals, our Omega-3 is produced in a way that ensures 100% purity.

This means mum and baby can obtain high quantities of essential omega-3 fatty acids in the correct forms of Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) from a 100% pure source.

As Omega-3 is supplied in capsules, the correct method is to pierce a capsule and add the oily contents to Baby’s milk or food.
